Depending on your needs and application. We can provide.

A)   Highnett Limited Life Safety ATS

For life safety systems such as fireman’s lifts, sprinkler systems, fire ventilation, smoke detection.

Using PLC control and Rotary isolator. conforming to BS 8519:2020

BS EN61439, BS EN60204-1, BS7671 BS EN / IEC 60947-4, BS EN / IEC 60947-6-1

(with Dual Line or Single Line Bypass operation as required)

BS 8519:2020 updates requirements for Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), mandating they meet BS EN 60947-6-1, use switch technology (PC Classification) over breakers/contactors, and be single components with integrated controllers for critical life safety systems, plus providing bypass facilities for maintenance without power loss, ensuring circuit integrity for firefighting and escape systems.

B)   Highnett Limited Standard ATS

For automatic changeover functions and Non safety critical applications using contactors, conforming to BS EN61439, BS EN60204-1, BS7671. (Can include Dual Line or Single Line Bypass operation as required)

  • Rated to suit the mains supply,

Single-Phase ATS: For residential and light commercial use (e.g., 120V/230V).

Three-Phase ATS: For larger commercial and industrial facilities with three-phase power (e.g., 208V, 480V).

  • AC1 rated suitable on resistive loads or AC3 rated for inductive loads if required.
  • Open transition switch "break before make " disconnects from the primary source (grid) before connecting to the backup supply or generator, causing a brief power interruption (seconds).

·        Programmable time delay for delayed transition to allow generator stabilization or load shedding before switching.

Key Functions & Benefits

  • Eliminates the need for manual operation during power failures.
  • Prevents downtime and disruption in homes, businesses, and industries.
  • Prevents dangerous back feeding of power to utility lines, ensuring safety for utility workers.
  • Works with various backup sources, including alternative supply, backup generators.

How they Work

·        The ATS constantly monitors the main power supply for voltage drops or failures.

·        When the main power fails, the ATS detects the outage.

·        It sends a signal to switch to another supply or start the backup generator.

·        Once the backup source is stable, the ATS transfers the electrical load (lights, appliances, machines) from the main source to the backup.

·        When the main power is restored and stable, the ATS automatically disconnects the backup supply and reconnects the load back to the original supply.
